Our stay at the hotel was great value for money. The room was cozy and clean, with a traditional Japanese-style design. The location was perfect, just a few minutes' walk from Togetsukyo and other attractions. The staff treated us with warmth and were always attentive to our needs.
The breakfast experience could be improved with more variety and options.

The location was ideal, as it was very near Kyoto's many attractions but still offered a peaceful and traditional feel. Being right on the river provided a beautiful view. The staff were attentive and spoke English well, making communication easy. The room was spacious and clean, with lovely views of the enclosed gardens. The dining area also offered a view of the garden, creating a serene atmosphere for meals.
Just a minor issue, but it would have been helpful if there were English signs at the entrance to avoid any confusion for non-Japanese speakers.

The view from both the room and the bath were exceptional, especially when it started snowing. We had the most amazing experience at a beautiful traditional Japanese Ryokan. The meals were a real treat with multiple courses and a set breakfast menu. The onsen facilities were nice, and we loved the cedar bathtub in our room. The location was calming and zen-like, perfect for a getaway. we highly recommend this hotel.

Located on a river bank in Arashiyama, this ryokan has an excellent onsen facility with both indoor and outdoor baths. The large rooms are well-equipped with a tub and shower, and the staff speaks English well. The service is top-notch, with attention to detail and a guided tour upon arrival. The kaiseiki dinners and Japanese breakfast are delicious, and the hot spring is comfortable.

The hotel offers exceptional service, with attentive and responsive staff members who are always willing to cater to every small detail you need. The customized herbal tea was just a small example of how the staff members went above and beyond to make sure that the guests' requirements were met. the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city and visiting major attractions with ease. The fantastic view and proximity to key locations like the temple, bridge, bamboo forest, and monkey park make for an enjoyable, hassle-free experience.
While the area surrounding the hotel is convenient and accessible, reaching the hotel with luggage can be a bit of a struggle. The hotel is a distance away from the JR station, and walking through the crowd with heavy bags can be daunting.

The hotel has a great location, near the main attractions and facilities. Complementary facts were offered during our new year's stay, which was much appreciated. Another advantage was the bath which was really nice and relaxing.
The price is quite high, which made it difficult to justify. The staff were too eager to please, which made us feel somewhat uncomfortable at times.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
